The Department of Cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (www.uab.edu/cellbio) invites applications for the faculty position of Anatomist/Physiologist. This open rank/open tenure-status position will entail teaching medical, dental, optometry, and other health-related students. The selected individual will have a full-time commitment and focus on providing anatomy/physiology education and utilizing approaches that integrate basic science and clinical areas. A solid background in clinically/surgically oriented anatomy is a plus. In addition, solid experience in cadaveric dissections of the entire human body is required for concurrent gross anatomy laboratories and future prosections for an anatomist position. This appointment will be made at an academic rank and tenure status, commensurate with the level of professional and educational experience.
 
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. (or similar doctoral degree) with preference given to candidates who bring innovative approaches that complement existing expertise within the department.

 These include a demonstration of excellence in the teaching of anatomy and/or physiology, documentation of the use of innovative approaches to medical education. Involvement in national educational organizations is strongly preferred.
