About the Position:
The Environmental Health and Safety office provides specialized services in the area of environment management in order to protect the environment and comply with federal, state and local regulations. Programs include air quality management, hazardous waste management, and soil and water pollution prevention. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as an Environmental Health and Safety Administrative Coordinator (Administrative Support Coordinator I). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under general supervision of the Director of Environmental Health and Safety, the Environmental Health and Safety Administrative Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact and provides excellent customer service support for business operations to faculty, staff, students, visitors and vendors seeking services and information from the Environmental Health and Safety Department. Demonstrates a methodical and organized approach to completing work assignments while exercising good judgment with a high degree of accuracy, speed and focus. This position is highly safety conscious, disciplined with handling sensitive records with discretion and confidentiality, while contributing to a collaborative and professional environment. An employee best suited for this role is one who has a general understanding of the functions performed in all units within the department, supports all members of the Environmental Health and Safety team, and is defined by their dedication to the quality of their work, dependability, and reliability.

This is a key position that provides varying levels of general office and clerical assistance to support the department's mission, vision, and values of protecting human health, property, and the environment. This position will interact with a diverse group of individuals at all levels in an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. The Environmental Health and Safety Administrative Coordinator works well in a team environment and understands the balance of sharing duties, taking ownership, and will take the initiative to complete all assigned tasks. Essential Qualifications:
High School diploma or the equivalent and four years of progressively responsible experience in general office, clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent. Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Thorough knowledge of office systems with the ability to use a range of technology, systems and software packages. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to apply a variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to perform standard business math including calculating ratios and percentages, tracking financial data, and making simple projections. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports. Ability to handle effectively a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training, plus two years of related experience. Experience working in an administrative position within a higher education environment. Experience with or knowledge of health and safety programs and projects. Previous experience working in an occupational safety or environmental compliance office. Experience and knowledge in CMS/PeopleSoft, Concur, Service Now, Smartsheet, and other work order tracking software. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, InDesign, and other graphic design software.
