About the Position:
The Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

We are seeking an Executive Assistant to the Provost and Vice
Provost (Administrative Analyst/Specialist-Exempt I). The ideal
candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an
active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical

integrity, and kindness.
Under the general direction of the Chief of Operations for Academic
Affairs (COO-AA), the Executive Assistant to the Provost and Vice
Provost anticipates, proactively oversees a vast array of difficult
and complex administrative project management functions with broad
impact and implications. The Executive Assistant oversees complex
executive appointment calendars and provides a high degree of
judgment and initiative in coordinating meetings, conference calls,
projects, inquiries, and responses for the Provost and Vice
Provost. The Executive Assistant plans and executes Office of the
Provost functions such as meetings, retreats, and social events.
The Executive Assistant serves as a liaison for the Provost and
Vice Provost with the members of the President's Cabinet, Provost's
Council, and other campus constituencies. The Executive Assistant
provides day-to-day administrative support to the Provost and Vice
Provost and to others in the Office of the Provost on an as needed
basis. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or
university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work
experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development
or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or
programs plus two years of related experience.
Working knowledge of and the ability to apply standard theories,
principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program or
administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make
recommendations. Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and
outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program or
administrative specialty. Working knowledge of operational and
fiscal analysis and techniques. Ability to take initiative and
plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations
where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Skilled in
research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs.
Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound
conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise
investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative
impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address
them proactively. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret,
organize, and present information and ideas in written or
presentation form. Ability to train others on new skills and
procedures and provide lead work direction.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be
completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will
make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if
the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it
is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified
information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background
check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee
who was conditionally offered the position.
Graduate degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience planning and executing events. Experience managing an
executive’s calendar. Previous work experience with a large,
unionized university environment. Ability to thrive in the midst of
ambiguity. Familiarity with higher education policy, practice, and
culture. Experience in the CSU system.
