General Description:

Cooperatively assist students with various healthcare subjects including but not limited to math, sciences, and writing (as feasible) through instruction and implementing study skills. Duties and Tasks: Provide face-to-face and/or online tutoring assistance to students as needed

Duties and Tasks:

Distribute information leading to academic improvement using a metacognitive approach; Consult with faculty regarding center’s resources; Research current list of useful Internet resources for student and faculty use; Work closely with ASC Coordinator, faculty, and student success staff to provide optimal services to students; Provide tutoring services orientation every semester for any willing faculty member

Special Assignments            

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

 

KSA's/Required Qualifications         

Required KSAs:

  • Superior customer service skills
  • Assist with faculty interaction
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

Maintain upkeep of Tutoring Center

  • Ability to provide Tutoring Services to students
  • Assist the ASC Mgr., faculty, and LRS staff to provide optimal services to students
  • Attend and participate in training as it relates to the position for service enhancement and professional development

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in helping students with coursework subject matter.
  • Progress towards a Health Sciences/Nursing degree or certificate, or successful completion of 1st or 2nd MEC program coursework with a grade of ‘B’ or higher, or a combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Availability to work day and evening shifts.        

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous tutoring or teaching experience of math, science, and/or healthcare subjects (Nursing & Allied Health) in a college setting.
  • Associate’s degree or certificate in health sciences or related field.
  • One-on-one and group tutoring experience preferred.
