The Dial Center for Written & Oral Communication at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, invites applications for the position of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Communication Studies in the field of Organizational Communication, beginning August 16, 2022. The position is a full-time, nine-month, renewable, non-tenure-accruing appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, with an opportunity for advancement in UF’s Lecturer track. Salary will be competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a full benefits package.

The successful candidate for this position would have a focus in Organizational Communication and would be able to teach upper-division courses in Small Group Communication; Leadership, Organization Culture, and Team Building; Conflict Management and Negotiation; Experiential Learning; and/or another area of the candidate’s expertise. A specialization in diversity, equity, and inclusion within organizations is a plus.

The successful candidate will teach a minimum of three undergraduate courses per semester as staffing needs dictate, including foundational courses (e.g., Intro to Public Speaking; Intro to Interpersonal Communication), and other topics in the candidate’s area of specialty. Candidates will also be expected to contribute to the development of courses for the UF Quest Initiative; support the UF Beyond 120 Initiative; work with the Center’s student groups; provide outreach for the Center through connections and collaborations with other campus units and the local community; participate in Center activities; and provide service to the university and the profession.

A Ph.D. in Communication Studies or closely related field (Ph.D. must be completed by August 15, 2022; M.A. will be considered if other qualifications are outstanding).

Demonstrated excellence as a teacher with evidence of incorporating diverse perspectives into teaching; a track record of teaching public speaking and other human communication courses; experience teaching small, large, and (online) undergraduate classes; the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff in the unit and across campus; and a record of scholarly research and conference presentation.

While there is a strong preference for candidates at the rank of Senior Lecturer, outstanding candidates at the rank of Lecturer may be considered.
