The College of Social Work at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a 9‐month full‐time professional track (non‐tenure) clinical faculty position with primary teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate level. The College’ mission is to promote social well‐being and social justice, and our curriculum reflects this with particular attention to diversity among vulnerable populations. The primary responsibilities for this position include teaching and service, with special focus on undergraduate education and curriculum development. The standard teaching load is 4/4 (or 12 credit hours per semester). Scholarly activities of clinical professors are broadly related to professional interests, teaching and program assessment, curricular content, and/or course development and delivery. The successful candidate’ initial appointment will be one or multiple academic years, depending on prior experience, and reviewed annually thereafter for reappointment.

Founded in 1969, the College of Social Work (COSW) offers fully accredited programs at the undergraduate, MSW, and doctoral level. The COSW aims to be a leading institution for innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to educating social work practitioners and scholars. Toward that end, the COSW strives to create a diverse, inclusive environment in which every student, faculty and staff member recognizes and values every race, ethnicity, religion, gender, identity expression and sexual orientation, national origin, age, ability, and veteran status.

The University of South Carolina System is comprised of the state’ flagship university in Columbia (founded in 1801 and currently one of the top 50 “est Colleges”according to U.S. News and World Report), three regional comprehensive universities (USC Aiken, USC Beaufort and USC Upstate), and Palmetto College consisting of four two‐year campuses (USC Lancaster, USC Salkehatchie, USC Sumter, USC Union and Fort Jackson/Extended University). Together, the USC System institutions offer more than 450 degree programs on campus and online and are uniquely positioned to meet the state’ educational, cultural, health and research needs. The System employs nearly 14,000 people who work daily to improve the lives of students, fellow South Carolinians and the world. Our diverse engaged faculty and staff enjoy a dynamic and intellectually stimulating work environment.

At the University of South Carolina, we strive to cultivate an inclusive environment that is open, welcoming, and supportive of individuals of all backgrounds. We recognize diversity in our workforce is essential to providing academic excellence and critical to our sustainability. The University is committed to eliminating barriers created by institutional discrimination through accountability and continuous process improvement. We celebrate the diverse voices, perspectives, and experiences of our employees.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an MSW from a CSWE‐accredited institution and a minimum of two years post‐MSW practice experience. Ideally, the applicant will have a strong record of teaching and the ability to integrate research and scholarship into course development, assignments, and lectures. A doctorate in social work is preferred but not required; rank is dependent on qualifications.
