The Department of Management invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Human Resources and Employment Relations ( HRER ) area at the Assistant Professor rank starting fall 2022.

The Quinlan School of Business is among the 5% of business schools worldwide that meet the rigorous standards of AACSB International accreditation, reflecting our mission of commitment to educating the whole person and excellence in business education. The school was ranked #81 in undergraduate business education (U.S. News & World Report, 2021), making Quinlan the #1 Chicago-area program. The school at present has approximately 2,000 undergraduate and 600 graduate students and 80 full-time faculty.

Quinlan supports an undergraduate business curriculum, which includes a major and minor in Management, an evening MBA program with part-time students, an EMBA and other executive education programs, and several specialty masters programs. The Master of Science in Human Resources ( MSHR ) program, which was created in 1942, is considered the premier graduate HR program in Chicago and is nationally and internationally recognized for its excellence. We have over 3,000 alumni, most in the Chicagoland area. We also offer undergraduate HRER major and minor degree programs. Alumni and students are involved in and committed to the MSHR program.

The Quinlan School is located in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast, just west of Michigan Avenue and the Water Tower, and one mile north of the Loop. Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Human Resources, Employment/Industrial Relations, Management or a related field from a full-time graduate program at an accredited institution. Applicants must have a core research and teaching strength in an area of HRER (staffing, compensation, labor/employee relations, organizational development, etc.). Applicants with an additional interest or disciplinary background in fields such as leadership, entrepreneurship, diversity/ inclusion, sustainability, or ethics are encouraged to apply. Required qualifications include a demonstrated interest in and capacity to conduct research publishable in top-tier outlets, and to be a highly competent and committed teacher. Teaching responsibilities will be both at the undergraduate and Master’s ( MSHR / MBA ) levels. We offer a very competitive compensation package.
