Job Description:

The Counseling Center at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Counselor. This is a full-time, temporary position with a 5-month obligation. The hours for this position are 12 - 8 pm, Monday - Friday. This is a new position that entails half-time counseling in the Counseling Center and half-time working with the Office of Residential Community Life providing consultation, outreach and possibly support-group facilitation.

Duties include but not limited to: Working with both the Counseling Center and the Office of Residential Community Life, the incumbent will provide brief individual psychological services to students; provide group counseling, crisis intervention, and referral to psychiatric and /or specialized mental health resources as needed; significant focus on developing and implementing outreach programming to Residence Life; serve as consultant and educator to students, faculty, and staff.


Requirements:

Required qualifications: master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or closely related field; Mental Health licensure or license eligible in NY State; and 1 year of experience providing individual or group counseling.

Preferred: licensed in New York State; clinical experience providing short-term mental health treatment; experience in a higher education setting, particularly in Residence Life; experience facilitating group therapy; experience developing and facilitating outreach programs; and experience working with and serving diverse populations.
