Job Summary

Coordinates activities involved with procuring and purchasing goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develops procurement strategy with clients: analyzing requests, recommending revisions
• Reviews requisitions. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
• Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items. Estimates values according to knowledge of market price
• Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid
• Prepares purchase orders or bid requests
• Analyzes bid proposals within budgetary limitations and scope of authority; makes competitive range determinations; leads negotiations and awards purchase orders
• Creates and maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories
• Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action
• Approves invoices for payment
• Expedites delivery of goods to users
• Maintains purchase order database, logging in new purchase orders as necessary; administers the online office supplies program
• Oversees the travel program and procedures, and reconciliation of airfare and car rental direct billing
• Provides customer service related to purchasing procedures and accounting transactions; responds to client inquiries by checking records and files in automated system
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Associate’s degree or 60 college hours degree and three (3) years related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and related experience

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Certified Texas Purchaser ( CTP ) or Certified Public Procurement Buyer ( CPPB )

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
