Summary of Job Duties:The Manager of Operations will serve as the leading Operations Officer to the Department of Biomedical Engineering Head, Faculty, Staff and students, responsible for the strategic and tactical management of operations related to teaching, research, and service. In addition to leading the formation of faculty and staff support to the department, this position will cultivate contacts and working relationships related to community engagement opportunities for personnel in the department. This position will also serve as the primary contact for travel and itinerary planning for all departmental related activities such as advisory board meeting, department head travel, conference travel, faculty candidate travel, and seminar series speakers; supervise fiscal support analyst and media specialist; serve as coordinator for the commencement events and undergraduate research symposium; and assist with scheduling of classes for each academic semester. In addition to fulfilling other operational duties, periodic travel and advanced ongoing training will be necessary.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent through related job experience in the field of business management or a similarly connected field

  • At least three years experience in program administration

  • At least one year experience in event management

  • At least one year experience in budget administration

  • Extensive communications experience and a willingness for periodic travel



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experiences in operations in higher education settings

  • Knowledge of research and analysis techniques and methods

  • Knowledge of work-related program information

  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in dealing with a wide variety of people

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, and with discretion in matters necessitating confidentiality

  • Ability to remain task orientated with excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to problem solve effectively in a fast-paced setting

  • Ability to work in a technological environment demonstrating excellent analytical skills
