Summary:
Utah Valley University's Department of English and Literature invites applicants for a tenure-track position in English Education.

The successful candidate will teach English Methods, Young Adult Literature, and First-year Composition courses as well as conduct regular supervision of both practicum and capstone field experiences. The position will include occasional assignments to teach general education courses in literature, writing studies, and/or creative writing. The standard teaching load is 4/4; course load reductions are given for assigned supervisory positions.

Required Qualifications:
An Ed.D or Ph.D. in Teacher Education, English Education or a closely related educational field and a minimum of five years teaching experience in secondary English Language Arts by time of appointment.

Must be willing and able to teach all modalities, including online, hybrid, and face to face classes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
● Fundamental knowledge of methods of teaching all secondary English courses● Knowledge of current secondary education theory, methodology, and best practices● Knowledge of current research and best practices in teacher education● Strong ability to supervise and mentor student teachers● Advanced skills in teaching● Strong ability to work well with colleagues across the university and in area schools● A commitment to contributing to and remaining current with the published literature in fields related to the position● A commitment to enacting and promoting social-justice and student-centered pedagogies● Experience working with marginalized groups and diverse literacies

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include experience supervising student teachers, working in clinical or Professional Development School settings, and collaborating with field-based educators.

Physical Requirements:
Work is normally performed in a typical classroom/office work environment.
