DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Serve as a leader and expert consultant to faculty, staff, the Dean and ADS on all issues related to student services, student retention of graduate and undergraduate students
  • Serve as a leader and consultant in creating effective advising processes and procedures; advising expert and work with faculty to improve advising and tracking of student process
  • Work closely w/ Dean, Associate Deans and Executive Director of Administration to identify and address student needs, improving retention, graduation, registration, etc.
  • Collaborate w/ Dir. Of Admissions and Enrollment, Director of Marketing and Communications, Director of Information Technology, Director of Financial Operations to provide input and guidance in areas where Student and Career Services overlaps with other functional areas
  • Serve as a resource and contact for SOE related issues or student crises, mental and physical health
  • Ensure that all state, federal regulations and university procedures that relate to student enrollment and degree progress are adhered to and that all staff have proper training and oversight in these areas Program and Event Development, Planning and Coordination
  • Lead the planning and coordination of all graduation ceremonies
  • Oversee the development and implementation of high quality and effective programs, events, and activities to promote professional development needs of the SOE students
  • Work closely with other units to plan and coordinate high-quality welcome and orientation activities Planning and Management
  • Responsible for the writing, developing, updating, and adhering to a 1 4 year plan, updated annually plan for Student and Career Services Office
  • Develop processes procedures, train faculty, staff and students and serve as a resource on proper guidelines and procedures related to advising, milestones, ETD formatting graduation, and related administrative tasks
  • Develop and lead/oversee processes and procedures to develop and implement high quality student services, career services, professional development and student support for over 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students
  • Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to student records and the collection, maintenance, storage and proper disposal of student records
  • Work closely w/ Executive Director of Administration, Director of Admissions and Enrollment and faculty to make decisions and create and maintain processes related to financial aid and scholarships
  • Develop and responsibly oversee an annual programmatic budget of $100,000 Personnel Management • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate the work of 3-4 full time staff members and 2 graduate student assistants
  • Proactively address and document staff performance, providing timely, clear and constructive feedback and implementing corrective action where necessary to promote the office’s effectiveness
  • Overseeing an office and staff and training to ensure they perform on a high level of customer service, responsiveness, in all areas of student and career services Evaluation and Assessment 10%
  • Work with students at all academic levels (bachelors, masters, EdD, PhD) to assess needs related to services during the students time enrolled in SOE, using appropriate tools (surveys, focus groups, etc).
  • Develop, implement and provide reports of evaluations of student experiences, and tracking of career/professional outcomes of alumni

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Doctorate degree in related field preferred. at least 6 years experience in student services/student affairs in academic setting; 3 years in a leadership role.
