Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) at the University of Georgia, University Health Center is pleased to announce an opening for an hourly mental health professional position. The position will be a part-time hourly non-benefited position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing screenings, crisis services when the clinic is open, on-going, age appropriate acute, short-term, chronic (within the scope of our clinic service) mental health care to students and eligible members of the University Community. This may include support and consultation with the walk-in clinician (triage). Performs mental health evaluations based on the presenting problem(s) and data from the patient’s intake paperwork. Is able to synthesize subjective and objective data to formulate an age appropriate conceptualization of the patient’s problem. Based on this conceptualization, is able to formulate a specific treatment or referral plan. Creates a record of contact in the electronic health record following a SOAP note format.

Preference will be given to applicants who have their full license by date of employment. Desired qualifications include: training and 2 years or more of experience working with individuals from traditionally underserved populations – first generation, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, Latinx, rural, veterans, skill and/or interest in preventive psychological education and outreach programs. Preference will be given to candidates who show evidence of being a strong generalist, and who have advanced skill with disorders typically seen at a university counseling service.  Start date is negotiable.
