For full consideration, please apply by October 31, 2021.   The Director of Medical Professional and Public Engagement will serve as a generalist in the areas of medical professional and public relations, as well as strategic communications, with a focus on supporting medical students’ longitudinal professional development from matriculation through post-graduate training (e.g., residency) and beyond, by establishing, building, and sustaining relationships with medical graduates and clinical partners, government entities and professional organizations, and other key constituents of the Heritage College. This position works both independently and collaboratively across the campuses of the Heritage College/Ohio University and its communities to create meaningful, mission-based engagement opportunities and experiences that help ensure medical students are exceedingly well prepared for professional success. Facilitates interaction with individuals and organizations who/that can provide educational and professional experiences and networking opportunities, with a goal of increasing recruitment of outstanding Heritage College graduates by the College and its major clinical partners. This position directly reports to the Chief of Staff for the Heritage College, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Chief of Staff for University Advancement.

Identifies strategic opportunities and facilitates connections, and creates experiences and initiatives/programs designed to link medical students to medical professionals—e.g., graduates and clinical faculty (preceptors) and mentors—and professional organizations, as well as public entities and nonprofits focused on expanding/improving healthcare access and delivery to further students’ professional readiness and development over the course of their preclinical training into compassionate caregivers, leaders, and members of healthcare teams.                                                                                          Serves as the College’s liaison to and primary point of contact for University Advancement (i.e., Alumni Relations, Development, Advancement Services, and Advancement Marketing Services). Provides board professional services and executive-level support to the Heritage College’s Society of Alumni and Friends Board of Directors as a member of its executive committee (executive secretary).                                                                                                                                                            Ensures accurate and ongoing gathering, tracking, and triaging of specialized professional data on graduates of the Heritage College, and the timely provision of such data annually and as needed, for various required reports (e.g., for accreditation, Ohio Department of Higher Education SSI allocation, Osteopathic Heritage Foundations grant metrics, and more). Shares relevant data with University Advancement and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Analytics for the purposes of improving and maintaining fidelity across and within central databases.
