Michigan State University - School of Criminal Justice


The School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University is recruiting one exceptional early-career stage research investigator to undertake an intensive postdoctoral position tied to funded research on implementation and outcomes of domestic violence restraining order firearm restrictions. This mentored postdoctoral position will be overseen by April M. Zeoli, PhD, MPH and Scott Wolfe, PhD. This study involves quantitative and qualitative research methods; recruitment, interviewing, and retention of domestic violence restraining order petitioners; strong collaboration with community organizations that serve domestic violence restraining order petitioners; surveys of law enforcement executive officers with in-depth interviews of a sample of officers; and a multi-pronged research results dissemination strategy. The successful candidate will engage in all aspects of the project.


This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal up to an additional 1.75 years, contingent on performance.


Required Degree



Minimum Requirements

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field of study (criminal justice, psychology, sociology, epidemiology, public health, social work). Minimum 2 years of experience in relevant research, including published manuscripts (as co-author or first author) and experience with intimate partner violence research or related work; may be included in doctoral degree training time.
