About Research, Instruction, and Access Services:
Research, Instruction, and Access Services (RIAS) is responsible for an array of services and programs to meet the research, teaching, and learning needs of the University of Oregon community. RIAS encompasses six major areas: Research and Instructional Services, Data Services, Undergraduate Engagement, E-learning and OER, Access Services, and five of the Branch Libraries (Design Library, the Portland Library and Learning Commons, Price Science Commons & Research Library (PSC), the Mathematics Library, and the Loyd and Dorothy Rippey Library at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB)). The mission of RIAS is to enhance student success and support, and extend faculty research and teaching by facilitating access to information resources and building collections, implementing innovative engagement activities, providing online and face-to-face information and data literacy programming, and promoting affordable course materials by offering initiatives and programs to support the adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER).

Position Summary
The purpose of this Access Services Technician (Library Technician 2) position is to provide public service at the Knight Library Checkout & Reserves Desk; assist the Cartographic and Spatial Data Librarian in the coordination and support of Knight Library's Aerial Photography Research Services (APRS); and communicate with patrons, colleagues, and business partners via e-mail, telephone, and in-person. The person in this position also assists departmental management in the training and oversight of LT1 staff and student assistants and performs various tasks in support of the RIAS Division following established library procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• Two (2) years of library experience within the last five (5) years; OR,
  
• Associates degree (or equivalent 72 quarter hours or 48 semester hours), and one (1) year of library experience within the last five (5) years; OR,
  
• An equivalent combination of current library experience, training, and/or education in related fields;
  
• AND, proficiency in multiple library-specific computer applications (e.g., integrated library systems, database applications, institutional repository, content management systems).

• Experience using or working with aerial photography and/or cartographic material.
  
• Experience using GIS mapping software.
