Description of Job:

The Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Research provides support to the Vice President of Academic Affairs for activities, processes, and projects related to determining the effectiveness of the College in achieving its mission and goals and communicating that to internal and external stakeholders.


Responsibilities:

  •  HLC Accreditation: Ensuring College’s compliance to meet and exceed expectations of the Higher Learning Commission for continued regional accreditation. Having an accurate and continually evolving understanding of where the institution stands, relative to accreditation standards.
  •  Course Evaluations: Plans for course evaluations by students; Runs course evaluations in Smart Evals’ system for two administrations in Fall; one administration in Winterim; two administrations in Spring; four administrations in Summer. Seeks best possible processes for effective survey of students and dissemination of the results
  • Syllabus Archiving and Retrieval: Receives each semester’s syllabi from faculty electronically and organizes them in the College’s Syllabus Archive for future retrieval; Searches to fulfill requests from students, alumni, faculty, and college administrators for prior syllabi
  • Qualtrics Surveys: Runs college-wide surveys using Qualtrics Survey software
    • President’s and VPAA’s occasional special surveys to faculty/staff or students
    • First Impressions Survey of new first-year students (November/December)
    • Senior Exit Survey and Graduate Exit Survey (April/May)
    • Alumni Survey (May/June)
    • Campus Climate Survey (every three years; coming up Spring 2022)
    • Board of Trustees Survey (May/June)
    • Provides results of surveys and survey dashboards for quick review of results; Provides support to Qualtrics users for account adjustment and to provide resources for learning Qualtrics and creating their Edgewood College Qualtrics account
  • Institutional Committee of the Board Survey Data for Dashboard: Provide the most recent survey data from the college-wide surveys to the College’s graphic designer as part of the information contained in the Institutional Mission Committee of the Board’s Dashboard
  • Predolin Grant Reporting - Alumni Survey Analysis: Provide information from most current Alumni survey for first-year out employment and placement outcomes for students in Business, Education, Nursing, and STEM
  • HLC Annual Institutional Update - Survey Facilitation, Completion, and Submission: Reaches out to campus constituencies to gather yearly information electronically to complete the annual Institutional Update; Completes each year’s update survey with the gathered information and submits the survey in advance of the annual deadline
  • WAICU Annual Survey - Facilitation, Completion, and Submission: Reaches out to campus constituencies to gather yearly information electronically to complete the annual WAICU Survey; Completes each year’s survey with the gathered information and submits the survey in advance of the annual deadline
  • NC-SARA Annual State Reauthorization Application Materials/Evidence Preparation and Submission: Provides evidence for the College’s continuing commitment to excellence in online learning and for meeting federal guidelines for information disclosures to distance learners
  • NC-SARA Annual Survey Facilitation, Completion, and Submission: Gathers information electronically from campus program stakeholders for distance learning; completes each year’s survey with the gathered information and submits the survey in advance of the annual deadline
  • National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) Student Tracker runs: for non-matriculants, for attrits/transfers out, and for graduates pursuing further education
  • Other related duties: Working in concert with other colleagues in assuring the consistency and accuracy of information. Other duties as assigned by VPAA.

Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in institutional effectiveness and/or research
  • Masters required (doctorate preferred)

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Effective spoken and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to apply statistical principles and processes to meet a range of information requirements.
  • Ability to analyze statistical data and generate reports, and design and administer survey instruments.
  • Ability to assist in a wide variety of survey research efforts including survey construction, objectives, and design; b) knowledge of programming and/or other software used to manipulate, summarize, and produce reports from multiple, large complex data sets; c) designing and managing information systems and databases to support institutional research activities; and d) preparing institutional responses to internal and external queries; e) assisting in a wide variety of university survey research efforts including survey construction, objectives, and design.
  • Ability to write and generate reports. Intermediate SQL query writing skills required. Desired: Experience and knowledge working with Jenzabar, InfoMaker, Qualtrics.
