MISSION

Wayne State University School of Medicine (WSUSOM) seeks a Medical Educator with expertise in Pathology to design and deliver courses and individual sessions in the M.D. program. An ideal candidate will have expertise in teaching anatomical, clinical and molecular pathology to medical students in a North American medical school setting. The Medical Educator will join an interdisciplinary team of basic science and clinician educators and curriculum support staff working to develop and deliver an integrated curriculum utilizing learner-centered modalities.

Wayne State University School of Medicine (WSUSOM) invites applications for the position of Medical Educator (Non-T/TT Faculty Position). A competitive applicant must qualify for a faculty position in the Department of Pathology. Candidates must demonstrate significant expertise in Pathology.

Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education, this academic position will perform the following duties:

  1. Develop course level learning objectives that align with institutional competency domains
  2. Collaborate with other course directors to ensure horizontal and vertical integration of the curriculum
  3. Develop and deliver pathology and pathophysiology content within the preclerkship courses
  4. Teaching in other courses within your area(s) of expertise
  5. Facilitating small groups
  6. Develop and implement learner assessments
  7. Engage in medical education research and related scholarly work
  8. Participate and contribute to various WSUSOM academic committees
  9. This job description is not intended to be all inclusive and the employee will also perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by the school.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • MD or DO, or MD., PhD (PhD in one of basic science disciplines preferred) with demonstrated expertise in pathology.
  • Must qualify for Assistant Professor Rank or above at the WSUSOM.
  • Understanding of educational pedagogy as it relates to the medical education.
  • Experience developing medical school pre-clinical courses.
  • Experience managing professionals in a complex organization.
