The Assistant Director of Development, will serve as the primary lead for the IVMF’s online giving strategy and engage individual donors for annual gift support and potential lead generation to IVMF major gift officers from the direct response pool. Working with an external firm, they are responsible for executing strategies and managing implementation of multi-channel digital platforms and fundraising campaigns including donors and prospects via email, social, and web to substantially grow and steward the support base for IVMF and its unique role in the veteran and military field. In addition, the role works closely with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes. Qualifications
  • Ability to manage all stages of a direct response program including working collaboratively with an outside agency.
  • Proven ability to manage a leadership giving portfolio including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • 3-5 years of related fundraising experience in higher-education or at a not-for-profit organization.
  • Commitment to the principals behind higher education and strong desire to associate with Syracuse University and IVMF and champion its mission.
  • A high level of discretion and an ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Flexible and strategic with the ability to multitask and create and implement plans and follow-though with assigned tasks and projects.

a. Proficient in MS Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
b. Must possess a sense of collaboration, mutual understanding, and a willingness to assist colleagues.
c. Readiness to interact with a variety of people and assume diverse duties and tasks; and demonstrate willingness and ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, as part of a team. Responsibilities
Collaborate with consulting agency to manage online giving program including digital donor cultivation, renewal, and solicitation campaigns, social media efforts, monthly giving, donor acquisition and stewardship, including timetables and schedules.
Engage individual donors including IVMF alumni, Syracuse University alumni and online donors.
Manage existing system for tracking, evaluating, and optimizing campaign performance and engagement metrics and analyze and incorporate data into recommendations and plans.
Compile and analyze data analytics to support decision making in real time and long-term sustainable growth along the donor pathway, including list growth and engagement as well as fundraising metrics.
Works across the IVMF to understand needs and coordinate development strategies.

Identify strategy use of donor segments and suppression lists to retain and upgrade donors.
Create and execute donor conversion, retention, and upgrade strategies.
In collaboration with consulting agency, develop email strategies, creative direction, and lead implementation of email campaigns to drive fundraising consistent with IVMF’s brand.
Build annual support from donors with a giving level below $5,000.
Partner with university central development to expand reach and visibility of IVMF individual giving programs.

Build an engagement portfolio of prospects with demonstrated giving history and having been identified with capacity to make gifts of $5,000+ annually, with accountability for increased dollar performance.
