The Associate Provost for The American College is a senior leadership and management position that contributes to a range of activities related to the administration of the Academics Department and the success of the college. The Associate Provost supports the Provost in strategic and operating tasks within the department as it relates to the faculty and the curriculum. Specifically, the Associate Provost leads the departments' efforts to plan, create, implement, and manage systems to support effective online teaching and learning. An additional role is to support the mission and strategic vision of the college as the department works to assist in the delivery of goals and objectives annually.
 

The Associate Provost oversees and is accountable for the functionality of each of the roles listed above, up to and including the goal setting through to execution and evaluation. In addition, the Associate Provost ensures the same cycle of strategic operations is occurring at each level below the positions listed above. The Associate Provost oversees the faculty hiring, credentialing, professional development, and performance evaluation processes, and is responsible for all matters related to the Faculty Handbook: faculty acknowledgments, the revision process, etc.  

The Associate Provost provides leadership over the curricular development process with regard to the quality and execution of programs and courses offered at The American College. This includes overseeing academic program operations; monitoring the performance of current academic programs and the rolling curriculum review process, and collecting and evaluating performance data to assess the effectiveness and viability of current offerings.  

The incumbent works with the Provost and other department leaders to create and articulate The College's academic vision based on the needs of the external environment and current trends in the financial services industry, adult education, and educational technology.  

The Associate Provost keeps abreast of and comply with accreditation and ethical standards for professional and graduate degree education institutions; actively lead and communicate the need for the highest level of ethical behavior in all College activities; and provide periodic written reports and presentations to the president and the Board of Trustees on program compliance.

 

Expected Contributions

1. Annual Strategic & Budgetary Planning

Key/Representative Activities:

The Associate Provost leads the faculty in conjunction with the planning and administrations arm to ensure the strategic and budgetary planning functions are carried out in a timely manner and submitted on time and complete.

 

2. Curriculum Planning and Implementation

Key/Representative Activities:

The Associate Provost leads the cycle of strategic planning for the faculty and curriculum functions: 1) curriculum strategy; 2) curriculum quality; and 3) educational delivery to ensure that the curriculum being developed and offered to stakeholders are cutting edge, of excellent quality, and delivered in a manner that rivals the Colleges competition and provides excellence to our stakeholders.

 

3. Articulation/Partnership Agreements

Key/Representative Activities:

The Associate Provost leads the effort in establishing key articulation agreements and partnerships, where appropriate, to establish key curriculum and program growth to move the College toward the 2027 vision.

 

4. Communication and Employee Growth

Key/Representative Activities:

The Associate Provost works closely with the Provost to ensure that ongoing communication is occurring with faculty and professional staff to foster the growth of all stakeholders and the department as a whole.

 

5. Support of Provost Council

Key/Representative Activities:

The Associate Provost will work closely with Provost and the Provost Executive Assistant to support the workings of the Provost Council, to include working closely with the representatives from college stakeholders to ensure successful project completion. 

 

Essential Qualifications & Competencies  

Terminal degree in business, finance, economics or related field required with 7-10 years of progressive experience in managing Academic functions within an online student environment In-depth knowledge of the professional education industries, including graduate-level and continuing education programming trends; understanding of the professional level distance learner and adult education industry and the needs and interests of all students served by The College Ability to be a visionary and industry leader with advanced analytical, planning and organizational skills; to think critically; address complex problems; and to use modern technologies and information resources so that students and faculty are engaged and prepared to participate in the learning process Demonstrated service to the discipline (membership in professional organizations, publications in relevant journals, etc.) Teaching experience in traditional or non-traditional college or university; and an understanding of the importance of academic standards and compliance with regional and programmatic accreditation-relevant regulations and expectations Ability to understand and represent the interest of students and faculty members and to develop a scholarly academic culture blended with a focus on the practical application of knowledge. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with peers, students, client companies, and prospects Must be able to work effectively as a member of the departments senior leadership team, represent the department and college while engaging with the Board of Trustees, the Boards Academic Excellence Committee, and the faculty; and to represent The College to the industry, the public and accreditation agency representatives Should possess project management skills and demonstrated experience leading and directing multiple projects simultaneously The American College of Financial Services is committed to applying financial education through teaching, research, and innovation in program delivery and design.
