The Hazing Prevention Coordinator (Senior Student Services Specialist 1) will coordinate university-wide prevention and outreach services related to the prevention of hazing on campus and the promotion of inclusive organizational environments fostering health, safety and wellness of students.

Duties include:
Training & Educational Outreach
Coordinate and implement hazing prevention education efforts with attention to at-risk student groups
Coordinate hazing investigation training for university personnel
Provide training, workshops and other educational programming for students, staff, faculty and student organizations
Develop and implement a communication plan related to hazing prevention

University Leadership and Facilitation

Develop a comprehensive hazing prevention plan
Chair university Hazing Prevention Committee
Collaborate with other campus units for overall harm reduction and promotion of well-being

Administrative Support
Develop assessment strategies to assess hazing attitudes and behaviors of students for prevention and intervention efforts
Conduct audits of university hazing prevention efforts
Conduct audits of hazing investigations, adjudication and sanctioning
Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Hiring Standards:
A master’s degree in health promotion, public health, student affairs administration or related field
Experience in health prevention education, training and presentations
Experience providing student programming
Experience developing internal and external partnerships focusing on prevention programs
Evidence of approaching work in creative and innovative ways
Evidence of creative problem solving
Demonstrated ability as a self-starter showing initiative and follow through
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with research and best practices related to student health and well-being
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse staff and student environment, and the commitment to do so at VCU

Preferred Hiring Standards:
Three years or more experience working in a higher education setting with students
Experience with fraternity and sorority life, sports clubs, student organizations
Experience with prevention and risk management theory and practice

Salary Range: 50,000 - 57,000
