Job Description:

Fairfield College Preparatory School is an all-boys Jesuit, Catholic high school of excellence located on the campus of Fairfield University for students in ninth through twelfth grade.

Prep is currently seeking qualified candidates who are energetic, passionate educators and technologists for the position of Director of Technology. The Director of Technology will lead and manage the Technology Department and all academic technology at Prep. The Director should have a strong background in teaching so as to understand the use of technology for our primary goal: education of the whole boy. That said, perhaps the most important skills for the position are adaptability and openness to growth. The Director of Technology has the following responsibilities:
  • Lead the Technology Department including hiring, supervision, and evaluation of its members (currently a Senior Technology Support Specialist, a Technology Support Administrator, and a Database Manager)

  • Chair the Technology Steering Committee

  • Work with the Technology Department, the Director of Innovation, and administrative leaders to develop long-term plans for the integration of technology into the curriculum

  • Research, pilot, and evaluate educational technologies for potential adoption

  • Plan and provide for professional development opportunities for the faculty and staff, especially regarding all Learning Management Systems, grading, apps, network programs, and all other technology

  • Serve as a consultant to assist the faculty with the implementation of various technologies.

  • Collaborate with the Principal and CFO in allocating technology resources for Fairfield Prep

  • Identify the need for upgrades, configurations, or new systems and report to upper management

  • Plan, administer, and monitor the budget of the Technology Department

  • Plan, organize, and manage technology needs of all on-campus events, including collaborating with outside technology vendors when necessary

  • Work with staff and administrators as well as University personnel and outside subcontractors to ensure that all operations and support services are delivered in an effective and efficient manner to students, faculty, staff and school constituents.

  • Collaborate regularly with Fairfield University’s Information Technology Services (ITS) Department regarding all infrastructure, network maintenance, server activity, and cyber security

  • Collaborate with the Dean of Operations and ITS to coordinate and direct operations of the campus infrastructure systems, including computer operations, telecommunications, and facility operations

  • Ensure integrity, confidentiality, and reliability of data by establishing technical priorities, standards, and procedures

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee technology projects relating to new construction and modifications of existing facilities.

Qualifications for Position:
  • Master’s Degree preferred

  • Experience in a Jesuit, Catholic, and/or independent secondary school setting and familiarity with the Ignatian values, ideals, and pedagogy

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange 2016, Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, Windows server hardware (Dell, HP), Microsoft Hyper-V virtual environment, MDM for iOS and MacOS, Blackbaud school management solutions, Crowdstrike, managing SAN environment for virtualization, and basic classroom media presentation (Computer Projection, audio amplification)

  • Experience in analysis, implementation, and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications

  • Understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks, etc., and basic computer networking

Pay Range: $ 89,453 to $109,332.

This position is based at Fairfield Prep's Fairfield, CT campus.
