Statement of Job:

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the university of Southern Maine (USM) invites applications for Part-Time positions in Mathematics to teach in-person courses such as College Algebra, Pre-Calculus and/or Calculus (first course). We seek candidates who demonstrate expertise in evidence-based past practices in teaching mathematics, a passion for teaching, a commitment to support diversity and student success, and a desire to joint and collaborate with current faculty to implement these practices. The position will begin January 01, 2022.

Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior college teaching experience. In addition, USM employees have access to the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and fitness center(s) with their USM Card. USM also offers part-time faculty the opportunity for development frequently through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD), the chance to get an online teaching certification and training through CTEL, in addition to other developmental opportunities open to all staff throughout the year.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Master Degree in Mathematics or Statistics-with a BS in Mathematics or a 4+1- by the time of employment.
  • Prior and strong experience in teaching mathematics courses from College Algebra to Calculus (first course).
