Security Officer-Part Time Shuttle Driver

Summary

Driver is responsible for providing safe, secure, and dependable transportation to Washington & Jefferson College students as a part of our various shuttle services. Driver will operate our 20-passenger mini-bus on predetermined route schedules throughout the academic year.

This is a part-time job.

Qualifications

• Valid PA Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement
• At least one year of experience driving private or commercial multi-passenger vehicles, ex. School bus, passenger van, taxi, etc. Must have clear driving record as determined by W&J College.
• Good verbal communication skills, ability to understand and follow motor vehicle/traffic laws, ability to understand and follow directions and to give clear direction to others, ability to maintain accurate and detailed records, strong reasoning and problem-solving skills, and able to maintain safe and secure environment within the vehicle.
• Ability to drive a multi-passenger vehicle, ability to operate a cellular phone in emergency situations, ability to manually document and report ridership, ability to operate accessibility equipment and aid students in need of assistance.
• While driving, will be exposed to the elements as well as various road conditions.
• Ability to deal diplomatically, politely, and courteously with a diverse campus population in a professional manner, ability to deal with difficult people while maintaining composure, ability to keep time schedules.
• This position requires weekend and evening hours. Must be able to pass pre-employment/pre-placement drug and alcohol test as well as be subject to post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty testing, and follow-up testing as necessary. Must notify the Office of Protection Services if any tickets are received while driving the college vehicle.
