Position Summary:
Join St Petersburg College's (SPC) Human Resources as we strategically partner with the college community to identify and proactively address its changing needs and effectively facilitate the various phases of the employment life cycle. Plan, develop, and implement compensation programs, policies, and procedures to align with the board and college policies, negotiated agreements and state and federal law. Ensure college compensation programs are consistently administered and follow internal policies and government regulations. Provide leadership, planning, project coordination, functional expertise, and management of the human resources information system (HRIS) functions. Serve as a resource to administrators and supervisors for compensation, salary administration, job descriptions, data requests and related functions. Ensure integrity and functionality of the HR system.


Requirements::
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources Management, Computer Science, Information Systems ore related field from a four-year college or university.

Preferred Education:

Master’s degree in related area or MBA, preferred.

Professional Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CCP, CEBS)

Experience:

5 years professional experience in a variety of Human Resources and/or technical assignments required.

Additional Preferred Experience:

Knowledge of designing and creating spreadsheets and formulas (Excel preferred). Intermediate knowledge of statistics and algebra.

PeopleSoft experience

Knowledge:

Possess current training/knowledge in the areas of FLSA and Employment Labor Laws.

Possess current training/knowledge in EEOC laws.

Ability to accurately forecast, plan and follow through on projects.

Intermediate management, communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.

Ability to keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to your job. Includes adapting to and mastering new system applications and processes as implemented by the district or department.

Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

Strong working knowledge of human resources database systems, both application and design.

Ability to create intermediate/advanced queries of the system.

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.

Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Ability to promote and follow policies and procedures.

Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people, including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. Willingness to contribute to cultural diversity for educational enrichment.

Ability to stay current with district policy, standards, and training in the areas of data quality, data privacy, and cybersecurity with respect to student and staff data, and related information systems

Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator


Responsibilities:

Govern the application of Compensation, Employee Records and Technology policies, government regulations, and prevailing FLSA wage rates. - Direct preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform employees of compensation, employee records and talent technology policies, regulations, and practices. - Act as subject matter expert on cross-functional teams by providing consultative and functional assistance for ongoing administration of HR systems. - Direct, oversee and approve the development of automated Human Resources business solutions and recommend process improvements, innovative solutions, system enhancements and maintenance of all Human Resources modules and interfaces. - Build collaborative relationships with all internal constituents as well as external constituents and vendors. - Analyze employee and business needs for SPC compensation programs to develop short- and long-range strategies, goals, and action plans and to create competitive compensation plans. - Determines scope of services by consulting with Chief Human Resources Officer and other management to ascertain organizational needs to further the vision of SPC. - Contributes to the success of the Office of Human Resources by providing information about Human Resource policy and procedures, acting as a back-up for other positions as needed, working cooperatively with other departments, and performing all other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the College.
