The Department of Health Sciences and Kinesiology in the Waters College of Health Sciences invites applications and nominations for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Health Administration.

Within this setting, the Department of Health Sciences and Kinesiology is a dynamic and growing unit of over 60 faculty and staff serving over 2,000 majors enrolled in a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs. The Master of Health Administration (MHA) program's vision is to be a nationally recognized provider of graduate health administration education within the state of Georgia and to serve as a regional resource for community and professional development and applied research and scholarship. The Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHS) program currently has approximately 250 students that are in one of four concentrations: Health Services Administration, Generalist, Health Informatics, and Human Performance/Fitness Management.

Position Description. Reporting to the Chair for the Department of Health Sciences and Kinesiology, the tenure-track Assistant Professor of Health Administration will teach coursework in health administration at both the graduate (MHA) and undergraduate levels (BHS), pursue an active scholarly agenda in health administration, health services research, and/or related fields, and contribute to the service activities of the health administration programs as well as the Department of Health Sciences and Kinesiology. The position is a 10-month, tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
  • Earned doctorate in health administration, public health (with a focus in health management, administration, or policy), or a closely related field, by August 1, 2022 with at least 18 graduate semester hours in health administration or closely related field.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning as evidenced by a presentation with students present during the campus visit;
  • Promise of productive scholarship/creative activities consistent with the teacher-scholar model;
  • Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
  • Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda and the production of research/creative activities as appropriate to the discipline.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous teaching experience in graduate and/or undergraduate health administration coursework or a closely related field;
  • Previous experience as a practitioner/manager/leader in health administration;
  • Previous history of scholarly output (presentations/publications) in the field of health administration or closely related field.

    Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution.
  • All work for Georgia Southern University must be completed while the employee is physically present in the state of Georgia, unless specifically authorized by the university for a specific purpose and limited period of time within current policy.
  • Faculty are expected to contribute to the vibrant university community by engaging students, participating in events, and performing other responsibilities on-campus
  • Faculty may be required to teach, conduct research, or perform service duties on any of the three campuses. Georgia Southern provides accessible transportation options between campuses.
