Faculty Positions in the Department of Biological Sciences 

 

The Department of Biological Sciences at Purdue University (https://www.bio.purdue.edu) invites applicants for faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.  Applications are welcome from researchers in any area of life sciences, including but not limited to neurobiology, microbiology, immunology, genetics and cell biology. The quality and potential of the research and teaching program will be the primary criteria for consideration.  

 

Responsibilities:  Establishing and maintaining an independent, externally funded research program; teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; participating in departmental, college, and university service.   

 

Application materials and evaluation:  Applicants should have a Ph.D. or similar doctoral-level degree   Applicants should submit (1) a cover letter, (2) curriculum vita, (3) research statement describing the long term and short term research plan with possible specific aims for the first five years (2-3 pages)  (4) teaching statement (1 page; teaching philosophy, experience and plans), (5) a diversity and inclusion statement (1 page), and (6) three letters of reference (see link for instructions).

The Department and Purdue University: The Department of Biological Sciences has faculty members conducting research across the life sciences.  Purdue University is home to several foci for intradisciplinary life science research, including the Purdue Institute for Integrative Neuroscience (PIIN), the Purdue Institute  of Inflammation, Immunology and Infectious Disease (PI4D), the Purdue Institute for Drug Discovery, the NCI-funded Purdue Center for Cancer Research (PCCR), and the Purdue Data Science Initiative. In addition, there are multiple departments across the university that further foster collaborative efforts.  The University has numerous core facilities to advance research (Life Sciences Core Facilities).
