St. Charles Community Colleges seeks a full-time Career Consultant to work off-campus to conduct career counseling and advising for job seekers interested in updating job search skills and becoming work ready. Conducts workshops and administers and interprets career assessments. Maintains necessary records to fulfill state and federal requirements.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides job search assistance, career counseling, and labor market information to job seekers in person and by phone.
  • Meets with State Program participants. Enters appropriate information into statewide system.
  • Creates and facilitates workshops on job search related topics.
  • Assists customers in the development of resumes and cover letters.
  • Conducts intake and objective assessment of Adult and DWP customers for OJT or classroom training. Maintains service notes and individual paper and electronic files.
  • Provides continual and consistent support, follow-up, and assistance to customers in classroom or OJT training programs.
  • Maintains contact with classroom or OJT training provider. Processes billing paperwork.
  • Assists with Youth Program clients and Business Team outreach events, as needed.
  • Maintains detailed service notes according to strict governmental guidelines and within mandated deadlines.
  • Participates in community outreach and develops familiarity with social services available in the county.
  • Assists with customer registration, explanation of center resource, and customer routing and referrals.
  • Assists customers in resource area with computers, fax, copier and general questions.
  • Assists with other Job Center Programs as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Labor & Industrial Relations or related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in related field preferred.
