Qualifications: Ph.D. in Psychology by time of appointment. Preference will be given to candidates with a documented record of excellence in teaching as well as applied experience. Candidates should be strongly committed to teaching at the undergraduate level and applying rigorous scientific principles to the study of psychology. They should also demonstrate commitment and/or experience incorporating issues related to cultural diversity in the classroom as well as promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities: The position comes with a yearly course load of eight classes (four in the fall semester and four in the spring). Teaching duties include applied courses (e.g., Abnormal Psychology, Personality - Theory and Assessment; Psychological Testing and Measurement). Other course responsibilities may include Health Psychology. Preference for candidates with a history of clinical experience used to inform teaching of practical skills. Duties also include service to the Department and undergraduate student academic advising. The initiation and coordination of community partnerships (e.g., student internship opportunities) would also be of value.

Rank and Salary: This lecturer position is eligible for promotion without tenure. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

The Program: The Psychology program is housed in Carroll's Department of Life Sciences. The Bachelor of Science in Psychology has the largest enrollment of any major in the College of Arts and Sciences. The program currently features 5 full time faculty. Current areas of expertise in the program include learning and behavior, cognitive, developmental, experimental, and social psychology. Beyond classwork, Psychology faculty and majors are active in research. Majors also participate in study abroad and have opportunities to expand their professional skills in internship placements with local organizations. The Psychology program also participates in an interdisciplinary Animal Behavior major with the Biology program. Additionally, a newly created Master's of Behavioral Health program within the School of Education and Human Services provides graduate degree opportunities for many current students and local mental health professionals to continue their education.

The College: The College of Arts Sciences offers undergraduate and a graduate program through six departments - Computational and Physical Sciences; Communication, Criminal Justice, and Sociology; English, Modern Languages and Philosophy; Department of History, Political Science, and Religious Studies; Department of Life Sciences; and Visual and Performing Arts. The Department of Life Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences includes majors in Animal Behavior, Psychology, Biology, Environmental Sciences, and Marine Sciences. The Department of Life Sciences consists of 13 faculty members, a laboratory coordinator, and administrative and staff support.

The University: Founded in 1846, Carroll University is an independent, co-educational comprehensive institution grounded in the liberal arts tradition. The Pioneer Core general education curriculum has a strong emphasis on developing intercultural awareness. Carroll University is located in suburban Waukesha, 16 miles west of Milwaukee and 60 miles east of Madison. The University serves approximately 3000 full-time and 500 part-time students.
