Key Position Information:
SPC's IT Infrastructure department is seeking an experienced and motivated IT specialist to join our team as an Associate IT Infrastructure Analyst. This position is focused on the operations and support of critical systems, servers, and data center applications. The selected candidate would work on a team tasked to implement, manage, and maintain a variety of systems, including server and virtualization infrastructure, enterprise operating systems, directory services and communications systems, and other major systems, in support of college-wide student learning objectives.

The individual in this position will:
  • Install systems infrastructure hardware and software (server and virtualization hardware, backup systems, virtual machines, Windows & Linux operating systems, etc.)
  • Maintain and support data center systems and applications (Active Directory, document imaging systems, file and print servers, identity federation services, etc.)
  • Provide support of cloud SaaS/PaaS/IaaS applications and services (Office 365 E-Mail, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Azure virtualization, Azure Active Directory, cloud faxing, etc.)
  • Create and configure virtual machine servers, including OS configuration, network configuration, application installation, and integration with monitoring and backup systems.
  • Remediate operating system patching, application versioning, and vulnerability management as required.
  • Assist other members of IT Infrastructure team as needed with higher level systems, including SQL databases, Office 365 infrastructure, troubleshooting of scripts and automations, etc.
  • Be able to respond as needed to on-call emergencies & participate in periodic overnight maintenance windows.
  • Be capable of physically lifting 50 lbs. occasionally, and up to 20 lbs. frequently. Also be capable of climbing ladders occasionally to safely reach equipment or cabling overhead.
  • Be able to work both on site and remotely on a consistent and reliable basis.

Knowledge required:
  • Operating system configuration and installation, application maintenance
  • Knowledge of server hardware and software, including enterprise operating systems & directory services
  • Monitoring System operations and configuration
  • Interpretation & analysis of event logs, including server logs, application logs, security logs, etc.

Preferred Experience: Networking Concepts (VLAN, physical medium, cabling), Virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V/KVM), Firewall, Load Balancing, VPN, SharePoint, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Office 365 configuration and support.

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

Position Summary:
Works under Technical Project Manager in enhancing a distance learning program in a team environment to advance the development of technology-enhanced curriculum, courses and instructional programs.

Typical Essential Duties
  • Assists in the development of customized training materials and training modules in a variety of technological delivery systems including software imbedded training web-based tutorials and classroom training;
  • Assists with the development of training videos, CD ROMS, and multimedia delivery modes;
  • Assists in the development of web site, web pages with links, web repository, portals, web based training for both unclassified and classified environments;
  • Attends meetings, seminars and conferences to explain or receive information relative to the projects;
  • Assists Technical Project Manager in creating an over-arching technological plan to incorporate all compatible technological systems.

This is the second of five levels in the Instructional Technology series. Incumbents in this class perform professional-level activities requiring specialized skills in an area such as instructional design, web design, interactive learning, and related instructional technology resources. Incumbent responsibilities include supporting staff and faculty in instructional design, virtual campus and computing services through providing training and instruction; researching data and information; and making recommendations for upgrades in hardware, software, equipment, and current technology in the field.


Requirements::
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field to assigned area. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

Three (3) years experience implementing and utilizing instructional technology.

Physical:
  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Provides training to users, faculty, and staff in using online/hybrid learning technologies.

6.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
