Job Summary:
This is a full time, salaried position. Provides leadership in instructional design, distance education, and the use of instructional technology and coordinates the integration of teaching technology in the classroom. Directs the Office of Instructional Design and Teaching Technology and is responsible for faculty development, learning support, and the promotion of innovative academic practices across multiple instructional delivery modalities. Assesses and evaluates faculty needs for technology in the curriculum. Maintains currency in instructional design, distance education, and instructional technology best practices. Designs and executes training that meets the needs of full- and part-time faculty.

Essential Functions:
1. Directs the office of Instructional Design and Teaching Technology.2. Advises and leads faculty in the use of instructional technology, from conceptualizing options and designing programs, to deploying them in the classroom across multiple delivery modalities.3. Oversees the administration of the College’s learning management system (LMS, currently Canvas) and conducts LMS training sessions.4. Establishes and enforces quality standards for distance education and the LMS. 5. In collaboration with the Distance Education Manager, Co-chairs the Distance Education Committee.6. Directs the development and delivery of professional development activities relating to pedagogy and instructional technologies.7. Develops the College instructional technology master plan and coordinates the plan with the College information technology plan.8. Evaluates new instructional software and hardware and assesses their application to instruction.9. In collaboration with IDTT team members and the Academic Affairs Leadership Team, develops evaluation tools and processes for assessing instructional design and distance education across multiple instructional delivery modalities.10. Assesses faculty needs for enhancement of skills in utilizing technology in instruction.11. Serves as a liaison between Information Technologies (IT) staff and faculty in all matters relating to instructional technology in the classroom and supports IT to ensure timely resolution of problems.12. Oversees and assures distance education compliance with Higher Learning Commission, Department of Education, and state standards.

Other Duties:

Accountabilities:
Responsible for the assessment, training, and integration of distance education and technology into college curricula and its appropriate utilization. Supervises the Distance Education Manager, Curriculum Designer, and other staff of the IDTT.

Job Specifications:
Master’s degree and experience supporting Canvas or similar LMS infrastructure required. Master’s degree in Educational/Instructional Technology, Information Technology, or related field preferred. Demonstrated experience managing complex technology design projects in a higher education environment; ability to deal with multiple constituencies in a dynamic work environment; and experience managing and motivating a team are required. Higher education teaching and/or in-service training experience required. A minimum of three years of experience relevant to the position is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of instructional design and pedagogy in a higher education setting, including Canvas administration, web development, digital audio/video, and graphics preferred. Community college experience preferred. Confidentiality required.
