Responsibilities:  Faculty actively contribute to a diverse culture of learning by developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate-level design courses in a CIDA-accredited interior design program, demonstrating a strong record of research and/or creative scholarship, maintaining accreditation standards, participating in faculty governance, and engaging in activities that support the academic and scholarly life of the University.

 Coordinator Responsibilities: The Interior Design Program Coordinator administers to the needs of faculty and students and provides overall supervision for the BFA and MFA degree programs. The Coordinator is responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of faculty (including teaching assignments), advisory board, curriculum, budget, equipment,  technology, mentoring junior faculty, and recruitment. A commitment to AAU research, including presentations, grants, publication in peer-reviewed journals, and/or creative endeavors, is expected. The Coordinator also serves as an advocate for community outreach, professional engagement, and interdisciplinary initiatives and collaborations locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Required Qualifications include:

  • A minimum of three years of academic and/or professional administrative experience.
  • A minimum of five years of teaching experience at the university level.
  • A graduate degree in Interior Design, or a related interior design-allied discipline, from an accredited college or University.
  • A well-documented record of research, teaching, and engagement.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and professional experience in the design of interior environments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovation, and initiative which respects and advances the field of Interior Design.
  • Experience in developing strategies for graduate student engagement, grant assistance, and other research activities.
  • Experience in developing strategies that increase program awareness and expand networks with prospective students, organizations, and industry professionals.

Program: Purdue University’s CIDA-accredited Interior Design program offers a four-year undergraduate BFA degree. The program also offers a Master of Fine Arts degree at the graduate level. The program is committed to helping designers transform the built environment. Using cutting-edge technologies, students execute evidence-based design solutions for society’s physical, social, and psychological needs.

School: The Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Council for Interior Design Accreditation. Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance is one of twelve departments/schools in the College of Liberal Arts.
