Student Services serves as an essential nexus between Johnson’s students and its faculty and staff and, in that, oversees all aspects of the student experience.  This encompasses Student Services, the Registrar’s Office, and Student Activities & Events.

This Position:

The Associate Director of Student Services is a vital, student-centric member of the MBA and MPS Programs team responsible for overseeing key operational aspects of Johnson’s Two-year and One-year MBA programs along with the One-year Master of Professional Studies program. The Associate Director will partner with the Executive Director of Student Services to enhance the academic, co-curricular and overall student experience of Johnson’s approximately 800 Ithaca-based students. In this role, the Associate Director will be a member of a collaborative team of colleagues in student services, admissions, registrar, student activities, career management, leadership programs and diversity, equity and inclusion.

The over-arching goal for this position is to positively impact and enhance the Johnson student experience in our world-class, highly- ranked programs.

The key objectives for the Associate Director will include:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the programs with a specific focus on communications, international exchange programs, and academic support.
  • Supporting and advising students in their academic, professional, and personal goals.
  • Partnering with faculty and staff colleagues to coordinate, improve, and enhance the student experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; 5-7 years of experience or equivalent combination.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a diverse array of stakeholders to craft and implement collaborative, high-quality academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular programing and events.
  • Experience in program design, delivery, and evaluation. 
  • Ability to connect with students of all backgrounds and experience levels; experience advising them on academic, professional, and personal
  • Strong public speaking, writing, and editing skills. 
  • Demonstrated project management, organizational skills, and detail orientation. Must be able to balance significant complexity and competing demands in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of discretion in dealing with confidential information in accordance with University policies and FERPA
  • Ability to attend meetings and events across campus, often traveling on foot. 
  • Ability to travel occasionally as needed outside of campus to attend conferences, trainings, and/or meetings with stakeholders and external vendors, although travel outside the university is expected to be limited to one or two times a year. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Higher Education and/or MBA; 4-5 years of experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Track record of success in a higher education environment and/or deep familiarity with business schools, and particularly graduate and professional students.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM, Qualtrics or similar survey software, and/or using social media to promote programs and organizations. 
  • Global experience, such as time living or working abroad and/or experience working with intercultural exchange programs such as study abroad and/or short-term global
  • Experience in communications, marketing and public relations, and with social media, is desirable.
  • Significant experience overseeing all aspects of operation for a designated unit of responsibility, including day-to-day operations, scheduling, financial responsibility, and budgeting.
