Job Description

The Director of Financial and Workforce Services reports directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and is a member of the Information Technology Services (ITS) leadership team. The Director leads the work group responsible for the provisioning of administrative, financial, budget, human resources, procurement, licensing, and business support to the CIO and the management and staff of Information Technology Services (ITS). The mission of the Financial and Workforce Services department is to ensure that ITS leadership and staff can successfully support and serve the University community. The Director maintains a collaborative working relationship with all ITS work units, Human Resources, and the NAU Budget Office.

(50%) Leadership:

  • Supervises, trains, and oversees ITS Business Services staff.
  • Establishes and oversees strategic human resources plan for recruiting, developing, and retaining talent in the ITS organization.
  • Oversees personnel management and development including structure, training and working strategies, quality management, and strategic plans.
  • Prepares advanced analysis, reports and communications for division and institutional leadership.

(45%) Financials and Budget:

  • Ensures budget compliance and manages resource allocation and reallocations for division.
  • Analyzes and compares financial reports to original forecasts to analyze effectiveness and identify cost reduction measures within division.
  • Oversees the development of budgets and strategic plans to guide financial planning decisions.
  • Oversees the forecasting and modeling of various future financial scenarios, guiding university planning decisions.
  • Responsible for new and ongoing rate structures for all billable services that are fully costed, credible, easy to understand, and compliant with all appropriate rules and business processes.

(5%) Other:

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Information Officer.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; AND,
  • 5-7 years of accounting/finance experience; AND,
  • 3-5 years of management or supervisory experience; OR,
  • A combination of related education, experience, and training

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Finance experience in higher education.
