Student Services serves as an essential nexus between Johnson’s students and its faculty and staff and, in that, oversees all aspects of the student experience.  This encompasses Student Services, the Registrar’s Office, and Student Activities & Events.

This Position:

The Johnson School Registrar directs the School’s Registrar’s Office by providing leadership in School-level aspects of course, class, and student records across the School’s seven MBA programs, two Masters of Professional Studies (MPS), and Ph.D. programs. The Johnson MBA program portfolio includes complex and “non-standard” degree programs in a variety of formats and locations including a dual-degree in China and Executive MBA programs in the New York City metropolitan area and across North America. The School Registrar manages a team of four full-time staff members to deliver high-quality service to all Johnson’s programs and students. The School Registrar will report primarily to Johnson’s Executive Director for Student Services who oversees the full-time residential programs in Ithaca, and secondarily to the School’s Associate Dean for Academic Affairs on curricula and academic policies across all the School’s programs. Further, the School Registrar will have frequent interaction with his/her peer School Registrars in the SC Johnson College of Business (at Dyson and the Hotel School), the College course planning and integration team, and the College Associate Dean of Student Services.

The School Registrar is a vital senior staff member and leader within the Johnson School given his/her knowledge of Johnson’s degree programs and expertise in managing course information, student enrollment, grades and grading, registration, room scheduling and data reporting. Further, the School Registrar is called upon to represent the School in collaboration efforts with both University offices and the SC Johnson College of Business. In working with University and College colleagues, the Johnson School Registrar serves as an expert on the needs and interests of the School’s programs, students, and faculty.

The School Registrar ensures the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of student records in accordance with University policies and FERPA regulations. The School Registrar is also responsible for interpreting, implementing and enforcing School, College and University policies and procedures governing student records, courses and academic requirements. The School Registrar advocates for the college’s interests on registrar issues, and actively communicates relevant information back to the college and academic departments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 3-5 of relevant
  • Proficient in database and spreadsheet
  • Experience using electronic student information management
  • Sound judgement, creativity, and the ability to work well within a team of professionals and a wide variety of students and other stakeholders from diverse
  • Superior written and oral communication skills are a must, including the ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and concisely.
  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
  • Must have the flexibility to support occasional evening and weekend programs and events.
  • Must have the ability to travel locally (and across campus) as needed to attend events, conduct site visits, and/or attend meetings with off and on-campus partners, vendors, and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred or the equivalent of high-level administrative experience preferably in an academic
  • Experience as a Registrar or Associate Registrar, preferably in a graduate professional
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft with an understanding of relational
