Jan and Marcia Achenbach Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Departments of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering Science and Applied Mathematics at Northwestern University invite applications for the newly established Jan and Marcia Achenbach Professorship (full professor), with particular focus on candidates who are world leaders in mechanics.

Candidates are expected to build a world-class research program, and to demonstrate a commitment to teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs in the McCormick School of Engineering.  Northwestern University encourages cross-departmental collaborations and offers flexible faculty appointments through joint and courtesy appointments.

Outstanding applicants will be considered in the research areas related to theoretical and applied mechanics, and to strengthen the strategic areas of these three departments and the interdisciplinary graduate program in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (TAM).
