LECTURER - ECONOMICS
The W. A. Franke College of Business (FCB) at Northern Arizona
University (NAU) in Flagstaff, Arizona invites applications for a
full-time, non-tenure track position at the Lecturer level to begin
August 2022. The position is a benefits eligible, non-tenure track
position for the 2022 – 2023 academic year with the possibility of
renewal, conditional upon teaching performance and availability of
NAU was recently designated a Hispanic-Serving
Institution (HSI) by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and
Universities (HACU). Teaching, mentoring, and collaborating with a
diverse student body is critical for faculty success. Faculty in
the FCB conduct interdisciplinary, community oriented projects with
a number of units on campus.
- Teach 12 credit hours (4 classes) of economics courses each
semester (Fall and Spring).
- Provide career advisement to students.
- Participate in economics area, college, and university
- Engage in a program of intellectual activities or professional
qualification requirements in accordance with FCB and AACSB
- Graduate degree (Master’s Degree or higher with a concentration
in economics or closely related field) from an accredited regional
institution or internationally accredited institution.
- Evidence of community service involvement with multicultural
- Minimum one (1) year of teaching experience in economics or
closely related field.
- Ability to meet AACSB academic or professional qualification
requirements (as referenced in job description).
- Five (5) years of in-person, blended, and online teaching
- Demonstrated excellence in working, teaching and communicating
with diverse constituencies.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching as documented by a pattern
of strong teaching evaluations.
- Experience and/or willingness to teach economics courses such
as principles of microeconomics, principles of macroeconomics, and
other economics courses as assigned.
A non-Ph.D. granting college, the FCB is a leading AACSB-accredited
provider of business education. The FCB educational experience is
characterized by high levels of faculty-student interaction. The
college offers undergraduate and graduate education, and has
enrollments of approximately 3,600 students. The FCB is known for
preparing outstanding, motivated professionals who are often first
generation college students.
Northern Arizona University has a student population of 29,569,
including approximately 21,000 on its main campus in Flagstaff and

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the

This is a Faculty (FAC) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit

participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) or the
Optional Retirement Program (ORP); sick leave accruals and 10

Faculty are hired on a contract basis, renewable according to terms
of the Conditions of Faculty Service
. Employees offered a
position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's
BCBS Plan). Employees will have 31 days from date of hire to enroll
in benefits, and their benefits will then be effective the first
day of the pay period following their completed enrollment.
If a new employee chooses the Arizona State Retirement System
(ASRS) retirement option, participation in the ASRS Plan (and the
long-term disability coverage that accompanies it) will begin on
the first of the pay period following 183 days of employment. New
employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan
(ORP; an alternative to the ASRS plan) will begin to participate on
the first day of employment. The long-term disability plan that
accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of the pay period
