Job Summary:

The Biochemistry Optical Core seeks to hire service-oriented Optical Imaging Core Facility Manager with excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills who enjoy moving science forward using state-of-the-art imaging resources. The responsibilities of the Manager include, but are not limited to, instrument operation, scheduling, maintenance, user training, and advising users on image and data analyses tasks. Furthermore, the manager works with the research groups to develop new and adapt existing instruments to advance their capabilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work with multiple users in a supporting role, and ability to work independently and proactively with limited supervision are essential.

Qualifications:

Experience with fluorescence microscopy is required, and a strong biological knowledge base is
needed. A multidisciplinary skill set is beneficial (overlaps may include cell biology, image analysis, biomedical engineering, biochemistry, life sciences, biophysics, programming, etc.)

The individual should have extensive practical expertise in biological sample preparation and hands-on knowledge of multiple microscope modalities including, laser scanning and spinning disk confocal, widefield fluorescence, TIRFM, and bright-field light microscopy. Super resolution experience is preferred. Additional expertise in image analysis approaches is a plus. This position will assist users design and carry out experimental protocols, train individuals in the use of various microscopes, align microscopes and keep the facility operating at an efficient and high level of productivity.

Salary is commensurate with experience with minimum levels of $50K and $55K depending on level at time of appointment. Level is determined by relevant experience.
