Job Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Administration, this position supports the tenured and tenure-track Law School faculty, functions independently, and exercises exceptional professional judgement and discretion. It is critical that the incumbent be capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously on an on-going basis and possess the ability to work with varied constituents on a wide range of tasks. There is a wealth of opportunity for growth in this position as a member of the Law School Business Office team. Training will be provided.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, courteous, sincere, and sensitive customer service, present a positive and patient attitude in all personal, electronic, digital, and telephone interactions, as well as a positive image of the Law School, will also consistently exercise common courtesy, accuracy, and professionalism, and strive to maintain a cooperative relationship with students, faculty, staff, alumni, visitors, and the general public.

60% Provide executive administrative support services to the tenured and tenure-track Law School faculty, pro-actively promoting and maintaining effective working relationships and collegiality. Assist faculty with the preparation of course materials, syllabi, seating charts, exam preparation, grading, scholarly publications, including formatting, proofreading, editing, and submissions, service obligations, committee work assignments, travel arrangements in accordance with university rules, and projects or event planning as needed. Manage faculty office space/floors and assist with the onboarding of new faculty. Update and maintain current faculty data on the Law School website, including bios, CVs, scholarly materials, and events.

20% Faculty Financial Management:

Process e-Reimbursements for faculty and others, consulting with Law School Business Office as needed. Keep knowledgeable and informed of UW travel rules and regulations, advise faculty accordingly. Serve as acknowledged expert who resolves the most difficult problems. Serve as Faculty Purchasing Card Holder. Provide other accounting help as needed. Maintain Law School's Financial Reference Guide & Business Office webpage.

20% Serve as primary back-up for both the Main Administrative Office and the Dean's Office:

Greet visitors, answer phones, triage, take messages. Distribute campus and first class mail.
Assist with faculty meetings, job talks and other Law School events as needed.

Ability to work and complete tasks with frequent interruptions.
Computer literacy, proficiency with Word, Word Perfect, Excel, PowerPoint, web entry, Canvas, video conferencing etc., and willingness to learn new software as needed.
Excellent discretion and independent judgement.
Well-developed interpersonal and human relations skills.
Excellent proofreading skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Typing 70 wpm.
