The Department of Counselor Education and Rehabilitation in the Kremen School of Education and Human Development at California State University, Fresno is excited to invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Counselor Education with an emphasis in School Counseling.

Primary responsibilities include teaching core and specialization courses in the School Counseling program, supervising practicum and internship, advising master-level students, conducting scholarly and applied research, and engaging in service-related activities. This position might also include serving as Practicum and Internship Coordinator for the School Counseling program and supporting efforts toward obtaining CACREP accreditation. Specific assignments are dependent on the departmental needs and the background of the individual.

Required Qualifications

  1. An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Counselor Education and Supervision, Counseling Psychology, or other closely related disciplines. Applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, requirements for the doctorate must be completed by the time of appointment.
  2. School Counseling related professional experience in a higher education setting.
  3. Teaching experience in higher education.
  4. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working with faculty, staff, and students from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Preference is given to applicants with an earned doctorate from a CACREP accredited program with a specialization in school counseling.
  2. Two or more years of relevant professional school counseling experience preferred.
  3. Ability to teach core counseling and school counseling specialization courses as required by the department. Graduate teaching experience preferred.
  4. Ability to supervise students during practicum and internship as well as coordinate practicum and internship opportunities and experiences for students.
  5. Ability to advise and mentor graduate students from diverse backgrounds.
  6. Evidence of recent publications and conference presentations related to school counseling.
  7. Active engagement in relevant counseling (e.g., ACA, ACES, ASCA) professional organizations.
  8. Experience with or knowledge of CACREP accreditation standards.
