Class Description

The purpose of this class is to provide on-going support and routine preventative maintenance for all of the building systems on campus. This class performs routine preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment, daily building equipment inspections and other general maintenance requests. Located on Catonsville, Dundalk and Essex Campuses.

Minimum Requirements

Current CCBC student, actively pursuing an Associate’s Degree/Certificate in Electro-Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, HVAC, Building Automation Systems or Apartment Maintenance, or recent graduate in one of these programs. Current student must have and maintain at least a credit GPA of 2.0, or be enrolled in a relevant Continuing Education certificate course (s) to be completed by competency, is required. Experience in the use of mechanical powered maintenance equipment and tools required. A valid Fifth Grade Stationary Engineers License required or to be obtained within the first 6 months of employment.

Class Specific Essential Duties

At the direction of the Manager of Maintenance and Utilities:
  1. Preforms routine maintenance of service in response to daily operation needs.
  2. Preforms scheduled minor preventive maintenance services.
  3. Performs minor corrective maintenance repairs as needed. Assists Utility Engineer I as a helper in major system/equipment repairs.
  4. Assists in the gathering and reporting of operational data.
  5. Responds to minor plumbing and heating complaints, repairs or replaces defective faucets and small pipes, clears clogged drains, and operate various sewer machines to clear sewer and water lines.
  6. Performs minor electrical repairs to wiring and lighting systems in and around buildings, including connections, outlets, panels, fixtures, switches, etc., and maintains safe working condition.
  7. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment; such as but not limited to HVAC equipment, electrical systems and components, plumbing systems and components, energy management systems and components and etc.
  8. Assures the maintenance of safety, sanitary, and security standards.

The Roth 403(b) savings feature is only offered by the following vendors: TIAA-CREF and VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature. Employees may contribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b) post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combined for the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.
  • Deferred Compensation Plan — 457(b) offered through VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. The 457(b) salary reduction authorization form is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/Human Resources Forms.
Parking
Free. Must obtain a parking permit from the Department of Public Safety to use on all campuses.
