Class Description

Adjunct Physical Science faculty are needed to teach day and evening Majors and Non-majors Introductory, General, and Organic Chemistry courses at the Community College of Baltimore County (campus may vary). Faculty facilitate learning by preparing and delivering instruction, cooperate with College support staff by timely submission of materials for duplication and grades, and coordinate activities with the Department Chairperson or discipline coordinator.

Adjunct faculty will be available to help students during one office hour each week (for each class), will participate in some Departmental or College activities, and are encouraged to participate in professional development.

Salary starts at $880/credit load hour.

Adjunct faculty may teach up to 22 credit hours each year and usually teach no more than 11 credits each semester.

Minimum Requirements

A Master of Science in Chemistry or related field with appropriate course work is required for lecture instructors. A Bachelor of Science with appropriate education and experience is required for lab instructors. Instructional experience is preferred.

Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature. Employees may contribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b) post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combined for the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.
  • Deferred Compensation Plan — 457(b) offered through VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. The 457(b) salary reduction authorization form is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/Human Resources Forms.
Parking
Free. Must obtain a parking permit from the Department of Public Safety to use on all campuses.
