The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations seeks
applications for a preceptor in Arabic. The appointment is expected
to begin on July 1, 2022. The preceptor will be responsible for
teaching five semester courses per year, and should be ready to
teach from the elementary to advanced levels, pending need.
The position is for an initial three-year appointment, renewable for a term of up to five years, contingent on performance, enrollments, curricular need, position availability, and divisional dean authorization.
Basic Qualifications: The successful applicant should have experience in teaching modern standard Arabic (MSA) at the elementary and advanced levels. The successful applicant will have native or near-native fluency and literacy, and be able to teach the advanced levels in the target language.
Additional Qualifications: A strong academic background in Arabic language, linguistics, humanities or social sciences is highly desirable. A Masters, ABD, or doctoral degree in related field is preferred.
