The Department of Health Sciences in the School of Health & Human Sciences at IUPUI invites applications invites applications for a 10-month non-tenure track faculty position on the Indiana University Fort Wayne (IUFW) campus beginning Fall 2022.  The successful applicant will have the ability to teach and mentor undergraduate (BS) students in both face-to-face and online courses, and will be responsible for participating in and assisting with the IUFW First Year Experience.  The Department of Health Sciences is headquartered on the IUPUI campus, with the Fort Wayne campus serving as a satellite campus.  The department offers a BS in Health Sciences (BSHS) at IUFW.  Additionally, the department offers an undergraduate certificate in Rehabilitation and Disability Studies, which students can earn in conjunction with the BSHS. 

Job Duties:

  • 70% Teaching
  • 20% Service/Engagement
  • 10% Scholarship


The successful applicant will:

  • Teach 3 courses per semester (fall/spring)
  • Maintain communication, assessment, and reporting lines to the Department of Health Sciences at IUPUI
  • Collaborate on department efforts for capstone and internship experiences for the Fort Wayne students.
  • Contribute to assessment of Fort Wayne student learning outcomes in the BSHS.
  • Mentor students and provide professional, university and community service

Required Credentials:

  • The successful candidate must have a PhD in health sciences, health promotion, health education, rehabilitation services, or a related field.

Additional Preferred Experiences:

  • The ideal individual will have excellent interpersonal and teaching skills, strong analytical abilities, and enthusiasm in both teaching and research, with a focus on the scholarship of teaching and learning a plus.
  • We also seek candidates with a demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of the institution’s students and employees.
  • Experience with community engagement and experiential learning is preferred.

The Department of Health Sciences is part of a dynamic academic and research community that includes eight departments in the School of Health and Human Sciences (SHHS), 15 research labs and institutes, and over 400 clinical and community partnerships.
