Position Responsibilities:

The College of Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University, Department of Biomedical Engineering, has a postdoctoral position available. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to develop and expand upon a diversified technical skill set while making a positive contribution to examination of the response of bone and muscle to the mechanical environment both in vivo an in vitro.

Research projects will involve both in vivo and in vitro assessment of bone and/or muscle response to mechanical load or disuse. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in musculoskeletal biomedical engineering. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in assessment of muscle response to disuse. In this position, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work and collaborate with a vast network of scientists and engineers.

Required Qualifications:

- Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering
- Experienced in musculoskeletal biology.
- Ability to mentor junior team members, and ensure the highest levels of laboratory safety
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
-Ability to work under tight deadlines and short turnaround times

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in assessment of muscle response to disuse.

Salary Range: $53,500 to $61,000 year
