The College of Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University,
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has a
postdoctoral position available. The successful candidate will have
a unique opportunity to develop and expand upon a diversified
technical skill set while making a positive contribution to
development of novel nano/micro electromechanical devices,
optoelectronics and nanophotonic devices for infrared and visible
spectral regions, and development of Quantum devices.
Research projects for this position will involve development of
materials and micro-/nano-fabrication of electronic/photonic
devices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in
semiconductor physics and materials and device characterization.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in
materials growth and microelectronic device fabrication as well as
writing research proposals, technical reports, and journal papers.
In this position, the successful candidate will have the
opportunity to work and collaborate with a network of faculty and
students, and other scientists and engineers.
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or a
closely related field
- Experience in Semiconductor Device Fabrication and
- Experience in surface coating/passivation
- Experience in materials Characterization (x-ray diffraction,
microscopy, and luminescence)
- Familiarity with modern epitaxial growth techniques, such as
molecular beam epitaxy, metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy, or
atomic layer deposition
- Ability to mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and ensure
the highest levels of laboratory safety
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
-Ability to work under tight deadlines and short turnaround
Salary Range: $47,500 to $55,000 year
