Position Responsibilities:

Data Processors provide database support, data collection, analysis, reporting, and perform administrative duties to ensure that data is processed and entered accurately in a timely manner. They may work independently or as a member of a team. Data Processors work under limited supervision, making decisions independently and referring unique issues to a next-level manager. Data Processors typically report to a manager or faculty member.

The VCU Dept. of Neurosurgery is looking for a Data Processor to support Dr. Kathryn Holloway with her research in deep brain stimulation. The Data Processor would work closely with Dr. Holloway and Dr. Docef to measure accuracy of registration, correlate error with motion, run data analyses, assist with data collection, assess radial error, generate reports and contribute to manuscript production.

Perform routine administrative or support tasks and responsibilities. Verify and validate reports, data, or documents. Liaise with internal and external individuals to provide the necessary information in the proper format. Fulfill requests, providing detailed information and analyses as needed. Sort and process incoming documents or data by forwarding, coding, and transforming into standard format. Collect relevant data from intraoperative records.
Required Qualifications:

Excellent communication and customer service skills
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work, multitask and complete tasks by stated deadlines with strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a support team
Demonstrated computer skills including word processing, data entry, spreadsheet, database management, and entry level statistical/programming skills
Ability to use web-based survey software and data entry, analysis, and aggregation for reporting using data analysis/computation software (e.g., Excel tables/chart builder, SPSS, SAS)

Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience in data analysis/data processing/statistics. Ability to work in Microsoft Office. Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to type at least 45 words per minute
Experience in or ability to learn design and development of data summary reports for stakeholder use
Experience in higher education, with knowledge of University policies and procedures

Bachelor’s degree or MD/PhD candidate preferred. A background in Neurology/Neurosurgery/Neurosciences. Experience with the Stealth Station and deep brain stimulation surgery. Ability to interpret intraoperative records. Ability to assess radial error and brain edema.
