Summary
The successful candidate will work within the Massey Biostatistics Shared Resource.
The candidate will provide collaborative and consulting services for Massey Members and VCU faculty. Tasks will include study design and proposal writing, data management and informatics, interim analysis and monitoring, statistical analysis, and dissemination. The analyst’s responsibilities will also include assisting the researchers in making their work replicable, reproducible and freely available in support of the university’s commitment to research.
Typical Duties
Data Analysis and Statistical Reporting
Perform data analysis required for study design and facilitate the writing of statistical reports. Create tables and figures as well as write statistical reports that entail the (1) data, (2) statistical method employed, (3) interpretation of the results and (4) conclusions made.
Manuscripts, Grant Writing and Presentations
Assist in the preparation of manuscripts, grant applications and slide presentations.
Provide wide‐ranging biostatistical services to Massey Cancer Center Members and VCU faculty. Support ongoing and future research projects by extracting working data files from the master database while ensuring the accuracy of the created files.
Typical Education and Experience
Master’s degree in biostatistics or statistics with progressive experience in data analysis. Must be capable of performing critical analyses of the literature relevant to ongoing or planned research projects. Must be able to define technical problems in research projects and databases, then implement new or revised statistical approaches to alleviate the problems. Proven ability to disseminate research findings in both oral and written formats. Must have working experience with statistical software applications, including SAS, R, etc. Collaborative experience in a biomedical research environment. Experience in preparing statistical reports, manuscripts for publication. Excellent communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work in a diverse environment.
