The Department of Economics in the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University (ODU) invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with primary fields in environmental economics, public finance, or regional economics and a focus on applied econometrics. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue high-quality scholarship and teach courses applied econometrics for undergraduate and graduate classes with applications in public economics, environmental economics, or regional economics using R.

Successful candidates will have a demonstrably strong background in affirming diversity and inclusion as evidenced by professional affiliations, accomplishments, publications, and/or by documented experience working with diverse populations. The College is committed to improving economic resiliency and inclusive well-being through active community engagement. The Department plays a significant role in these efforts through faculty research and participation in the Dragas Center for Economic Analysis and Policy as well as other Centers at ODU. Candidates with experience or demonstrated willingness to support the Department's efforts in community engagement with regional businesses, nonprofits, and public entities are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates who are at the level of senior Assistant Professor are encouraged to apply. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in economics, or related field, by the position start date. This is a 10-month appointment beginning July 25, 2022. The position includes three years of summer support for well-qualified candidates. Candidates must have teaching experience and demonstrate evidence of research quality and productivity.

We plan to conduct remote interviews via electronic conferencing to determine a set of finalists for this position.
