Position Summary
Reports to the Dean of Students and is responsible for the administration of the University Student Code of Conduct. This position will be required to work with all students, faculty, staff and administrators on matters of student conduct and will be expected to provide educational programming to the campus community. The director is also responsible for federal, state and university reporting related to student conduct (The Clery Act, Drug Free Schools, etc.)

*Serve as the point person for the student conduct department. Answers all questions related to student conduct matters.
*Collect of all SRU -related reports from the University, State and Local Police departments.
*Serve as a resource to internal stakeholders including consultation with faculty/staff, students, and administrators.
*Receive charges and determine if they warrant further consideration adjudicate cases and provide for appeal process.
*Serve as the primary investigator for Student Code of Conduct violations occurring off campus (except for Title IX).
*Maintain documentation of cases referred to Student Conduct.
*Convene Hearing and Appeal Boards
*Conduct Administrative Hearings to determine appropriate action.
*Determine the appropriate sanction range for Hearing Boards including suspension and permanent dismissal for the University.
*Provide process for appeal including but not limited to: advising the student on the appeal process and preparing a brief and/or providing hearing materials to the appellate officer
*Ensure that all procedures are administered according to the Code of Conduct.
*Ensure that parents are notified of a potential disciplinary action, when appropriate.
*Refer students to both on and off campus support services, when appropriate.
*Issue no contact and no trespass orders
*Manage student conduct software for housing student records.
*Manage the departmental budget and approve expenditure of funds.
*Supervise staff
*Maintain statistical records, collect and analyze data, prepare reports university, state and federally required reports.
*Provide divisional leadership for specialized area of Student Code of Conduct adjudication and higher education law. Assist other campus-based discipline systems as it relates to sport clubs, Greek life, student organizations, faculty discipline, etc.
*Develop and implement department policies and procedures assuring compliance with federal and state laws.
*Respond to inquiries on active cases.
*Forge external partnerships with PA State Police, Slippery Rock Borough Police, Slippery Rock University Police and other law enforcement agencies as needed.
*Represent the department at on campus events, training, orientations, etc.
*Develop and implement assessment programs and activities and utilize the data to improve quality of service.
*Maintain disciplinary records and coordinate the release of disciplinary information where appropriate
*Collaborate regularly with all campus departments as it relates to student conduct matters.
*Ensure that the release of appropriate records to local, state or federal agencies, or other interested parties, occurs only if there is a signed release form, court subpoena or other documentation or exigency that would allow the release of such information.
*Serve on the campus Behavioral Intervention and Response Team, as determined by the team chair.
*Communicate information regarding the Student Code of Conduct to all members of the University community.
*Develop and implement comprehensive selection and training programs for student faculty, administrative and staff hearing board members.
*Conduct needs assessment of hearing board members and establish programs to meet needs.
*Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to provide training on sexual assault issues, conducting investigations, questioning of witnesses, Code of Conduct language and its relationship to the Crimes Code, legal issues associated with student conduct and procedures and other relevant topics.
*Prepare and present seminars, class sessions, awareness campaigns, and programs on emerging issues in student conduct related matters. Examples include academic integrity, CASICS and BASICS, decision making, and the Student Code of Conduct. Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration/Student Personnel or related field and a minimum of three years of experience in a higher education setting.

Demonstrated experience in working with populations of diverse backgrounds, for example but not limited to: Black/African-American, Latino/Latina, LGBTQI+, international students, and students from varying socioeconomic statuses.

Successful candidate must perform well in an interview and deliver a formal presentation. Preferred Qualifications
More than five years working professionally in student affairs, direct experience working in a student conduct office, knowledge of student conduct procedures, Title IX regulations, and higher education law.
